Sometimes, a model has multiple views in a project. When generating report with model information, the report will become very long due to the repeated information for each model view. This article discusses the new feature for showing duplicated model information once only in the report.

In a project, a model can have multiple views with the same details, such as children, attributes, columns and relationships. When we generate a report, the model details will be shown repeatedly in each view of model, leading a long and annoying report. However, it is not a good idea to generate the report without model details.

Taking account of this fact, we enhanced the report generation feature for HTML report, PDF report and Word report in Visual Paradigm Suite 3.3 by providing an option in generating report settings. Below we will demonstrate how to generate report with the model information showing once only.

Enable Option to Show Details Once

Here are two Class Diagrams sharing the same model view. As an example, let's generate a PDF report for these two diagrams.

  1. Select Tools > Report > Generate PDF Report... on the toolbar.

  2. Specify the Output path of the report by using the "..." button.

  3. In the Options section under the Diagram tab, check the checkbox for Suppress details if duplicated as well as other generation options you prefer.

  4. Select the diagrams to be generated in the report in the Diagrams section.

  5. Select the details to be generated in the report in the Details section.

  6. When finishing the setting for report generation, click Generate to process the report.

  7. After the report is generated, it will be opened automatically.
