The automatic connector re-routing feature makes it possible to reroute connector when any shape is being moved over it. This avoid having complex diagram caused by overlapped connectors and shapes.
When creating diagrams, especially in a complex diagram, moving a massive group of shapes is sometimes seems unavoidable, and consequently making the shape(s) overlapped with existing connectors. You often need to place the shape first, then route the connector manually afterwards. The automatic reroute connector feature is introduced to address this problem. Enabling Automatic Reroute Connector Since this feature is not enabled by default, you need to turn it on in the Options menu before you can use it. Select menu Tools > Options... to open the Options dialog box. Select Diagramming from the left, select the Connector page, and then tick the Auto relocate connector option to enable this feature.
Using Automatic Reroute ConnectorAutomatic connector rerouting works both when creating shape and moving existing shapes. Here shows this feature in action. Click on a resource and drag to create shape.
Place the shape so that it overlaps with a connector.
- When you release the mouse button, the overlapped connector is routed automatically.

- Move the created shape so that it overlaps with the routed connector again.

- Again the connector is routed to avoid overlapping.
